The Chicago Chapter of the Black Caucus of Librarians wishes to:
- Organize the librarians in the Chicago Area for the purpose of developing an educational, professional, political, and social organization which will assist the Black Community in achieving its potential goals.
- Act as a catalyst in developing and executing relevant library services, programs and activities relative to informing, creating, stimulating and maintaining the Black Community’s interest in libraries, and achieving self-development.
- Expand the role of the Black librarians in the profession and the total community by recruiting Blacks in the field, providing and developing a means of access to educational opportunities and sustaining and supporting library education.
